SACD Hybrid pressing version of this 1971 album. Featuring introspective lyrics about drug abuse, poverty and the Vietnam War, the album was the first to reflect the beginning of a new trend in Soul music. What's Going On was both an immediate commercial and critical success and it has endured as a classic of early '70s Soul. This was also the first album on which Motown Records' main studio band, The Funk Brothers, received an official credit. 10 tracks including 'Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology)', 'Save The Children' and the title track.
